Itinerary

Welcome to our glorious state of Nagaland! Meet and greet upon arrival at the Dimapur airport by our driver. Then you will road to Kohima. After checking at the hotel later visit 2nd world war cemetery, State Museum, Zoological Park, Mary Help of Christians Cathedral. Later come back to hotel.

Today we will travel to Khonoma Village which is about 25 kms from Kohima. It takes a little more than an hour to cover the distance because of the bumpy roads. Khonoma is a historical village...The villagers had put up great resistance to the invading British troops. The village has also been declared as a Green Village because of its successful conservation programme. We will also try and see a cultural presentation in the village. Other villages to visit are Zakhama Village and Visit the Kisama Village to see the Hornbill ground – There you can see the dormitories of all the tribes of Nagaland. Sightseeings in Kohima State Museum, Zoological Park.

After breakfast, transfer to Mokokchung. After lunch – day at leisure/visit local Ao market. Mokokchung: It is situated at an altitude of 4347 feet, Mokokchung is the home of the Ao Naga tribe. According to the legends the Aos sprung up from “Longtrok” which means “six stones”. In the past, Mokokchung was one of the preliminary locations in the Naga Hills, where the British had established their presence in the late 19th century. Later on, arrival of Christian missionaries to Mokokchung had brought a different image in the field of education and today it is having the highest literacy in the state with an average literacy rate of 84 %.

After breakfast, transfer to Mon. Enroute Visit Pyramids of Ahom Dynasty and First Fortified Palace of Ahom.

After breakfast visit Longwa Village, bordering India and Burma, situated about 50 km from the district headquarters of Mon. It is one of the biggest villages in the district, some portions of this village lie in India and some in Myanmar. However, it is controlled by a chief known as Angh. Half of the house of the chief falls in India and the other half in Myanmar. The lucky villagers enjoy two citizenships, one of India and the other of Burma. It is the place where coal mine was discovered in 1907. A visit to the village will acquaint you with the culture of the tribe. They are skilled in making exquisite handicrafts. Later on visit the Shanhah Chingnyu village, where still you might find human skulls kept as a head hunting trophy. Later return to Mon Village. Night in basic guest house or homestay. We recommend you to opt for the services of a local guide in order to get a real taste of the Konyak lifestyle.
