Essential trip

information!

Pack a highly versatile wardrobe prepared for shifting climates and rugged terrain: lightweight, breathable cotton clothing for Assam, and warm sweaters, light jackets, or windcheaters for the cooler elevations of Shillong and Cherrapunjee. A high-quality raincoat, poncho, and an umbrella are absolute necessities for Meghalaya. Sturdy, waterproof trekking shoes with excellent grip are mandatory for the Nongriat trek and exploring slippery caves/waterfalls. Bring essential sun protection, strong mosquito/insect repellent (crucial for Pobitora and Shnongpdeng), a basic first-aid kit, and personal medications. The local currency is the Indian Rupee (INR); carrying ample cash is critical, as ATMs and digital payment networks are highly unreliable in offbeat areas like Nongriat and Shnongpdeng.
