  • Gurudongmar Lake is located at an altitude of 17,800 feet; children below 5 years and elderly travelers with severe respiratory or heart problems are advised against visiting.
  • North Sikkim roads can experience sudden closures due to landslides or harsh weather; alternative itineraries or sightseeing will be offered for safety.
  • Nathula Pass is closed to tourists on Mondays and Tuesdays; visiting requires advance notice, depends on army permits, and incurs supplemental costs.

Pack layered woolens, thermal innerwear, windproof jackets, gloves, and sturdy walking shoes, as temperatures drop significantly in Lachen, Lachung, Yumthang Valley, and especially at Gurudongmar Lake. Bring essential moisturizers, lip balm, sunscreen, and personal medications (including altitude sickness and motion sickness tablets). Carry sufficient cash, as network connectivity and digital payments can be highly erratic in North Sikkim and remote parts of Pelling. Stay hydrated throughout the journey to combat altitude sickness. A moderate to high level of physical fitness is required for high-altitude travel and long mountainous drives.
