Just imagine you are sitting on a soft relax chair and tasting the world’s most finest tea, beside the foggy mall road, from where you can hear the exciting whistle of historical “Toy-Train”. Is there any more comfort feelings in the world than this? Well, to me it’s the most perfect moment of my laziest travel diary page. Yes, my travel friends, I roamed around the world, tasted so many beverages, saw so many landscapes, clicked so many mountains. But, “Darjeeling, The Queen Of Hills” took me in a fantasy book by her breathtaking views and the smelly blood of her, which we knows as the perfect Darjeeling tea.

“Darjeeling” is a town in the Indian state of “West Bengal”. It is located in the “Mahabharat Range” or “Lesser Himalaya” at an average elevation of 6,710 ft (2,045.2 m). It is noted for its tea industry and the “Darjeeling Himalayan Railway”, a “UNESCO World Heritage Site”. The hills of “Darjeeling” are nestled within higher peaks and the snow-clad Himalayan ranges tower over the town in the distance. “Kanchenjunga”, the world’s third-highest peak, 8,598 m (28,209 ft) high, is the most prominent mountain visible. In days clear of clouds, Nepal’s “Mount Everest”, 29,029 ft (8,848 m) high, can be seen also.“Darjeeling” is always full of surprises in a traveller’s eye. Sometime she gives you a complete dizzy feeling with its fogginess, in some springs she tells you a proper fairytale of mountain lives by showing the panoramic range of “The Himalaya”, and in deep winter she will probably blow you in an atmosphere of a cold nostalgic town of ancient British’s. This old town was very popular among the “British” residences in “India”. While ruling India, “British” used “Darjeeling” as a winter camping place to escape the summer from India’s dry cities. In every corner of this old town, an elegant English touch is hiding. Even the dark pine woods, the old village rocky roads, the living pattern of the locals are quite similar with British style. In that case another thing comes first when it’s a matter of British’s taste, which is “A Proper Cup of A Pure Darjeeling Tea”. Yes, dear friends in this cold weather its nothing better than a cup of warm tea. So for making it better British people used seeds stolen from China (Camellia Sinensis) to begin experimental tea planting. The British government also established tea nurseries during that period (1847). And now after a lot of researches and quality tastings, “Darjeeling” has more than 70 tea estates, which provide the finest quality tea to the Tea-loving world. “Darjeeling” has another unique subject which attracts the history crazy travellers from all around, which is “The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway”, also known as the “Toy Train”, is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs between “New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling”. It was built by “British “between 1879 and 1881. In a sunny weather, a joyful “Toy Train” ride is worth like a “once in a lifetime experience”. The view you will see from this beautiful ride, which is comparable with a fairy tale of green hills and white mountains, where you can see the real exotic hill life, the small British style cottages with perfect courtyards, the small eyed locals, the cute school going hill kids, the breath taking waterfalls, the perfect melting curves between the poetic hills for a perfect sunset.

So this is what a pure picture of “Hill Queen, Darjeeling” in a true-heart traveller’s eye. Anyone, who comes to visit “Darjeeling” by a small escape of Darjeeling holiday packages, they do surely taste the same thing that I explained today in my blog, even who comes in “Sikkim tour packages”, they also visit “Darjeeling” at least for two nights to enjoy the exciting nature of “Queen Hill”, as it is very close to “Sikkim”. Nowhere in this world, there is a cold nostalgic hill town like Darjeeling with a combination of nostalgia of old British traditions, heritage landmarks, and the finest cup of warm tea.
